CHOCOLATE BARS - 2021 is a year of novelty for the Ferrero house. In summer, in fact, the famous pralines, iconic all over the world, have become an ice cream. Both the classic version with chocolate and hazelnut, and those with coconut, joined the stick and invaded the freezers of millions of consumers. With success, Ferrero Rocher embarks on a new challenge, trying to conquer another market: chocolate bars.

300 proven recipes to find the right one

Since 1982 Ferrero Rocher has over the years conquered and delighted the palates of millions of people around the world. From 1990 onwards he continued to do so with the iconic Dolcetto Raffaello, another ninety-piece from the Ferrero collection. For three years, however, the production company of Alba is looking for the right recipe to conquer the market of chocolate bars. It took about 300 attempts and 50 people to get to the result that we will soon see on supermarket shelves.

The tablet will be available in packs of 90 gr and will be available in:

"Ferrero Premium bars are available in seven flavors, each made with carefully selected quality ingredients and different varieties of chocolate. Ferrero Rocher bars include milk, dark chocolate and 55% white chocolate combined with hazelnuts, almonds and salted caramel, while Raffaello bars are made of white chocolate combined with coconut, almonds and pineapple."

Their shape makes much reference to the original praline presenting on top of some squares of the delicate domes. The rest of the chocolate bar has a chocolate base that supports a soft and creamy filling, covered with an upper layer of chocolate mixed with crunchy bits of hazelnuts or almonds.

Ferrero Rocher with chocolate bars points to a thriving market

Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Austria, France, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg will be able to try the new chocolate bars in October, while countries such as Spain, Portugal and the United States will have to wait until 2022. The choice of tastes is not causal but is based on the trend of market preferences in fact in 2020 37% of consumers preferred dark bars, 24% milk and 4% white chocolate.

Even choosing the market for chocolate bars was a well-calculated move, considering that only in Italy it is worth 578 million euros, of which 439 million euros come only from large-scale retail. The rest is for discount and traditional channels.

Having not yet closed the 2021 budget, we do not know how much the investment made with ice cream, which was put on the market in April for Ferrero. The same goes for chocolate bars that have yet to come out. The 2020 budget, however, posted an increase of 7.8% compared to 2019, closing Ferrero with a turnover of 12.3 billion euros.
