Cryptocurrencies use peer-to-peer technology (p2p) on nets whose nodes consist of user’s computers, potentially located throughout the world. On these computers are specific programmes carrying out coin purse functions.

Currently there is not a central authority control. The transactions and the release occur collectively online, therefore there is not a “centralised” management. These unique features in their kind can’t be implemented by traditional payment methods.

The decentralised control of each cryptocurrency works through a generalised accounting technology, typically a blockchain, which serves as a database of public financial transactions.
